National Broadband Network

The Australian Federal labor Government has started to roll out a national broadband network with the investment of $43 billion over 5 years. The Government’s objective is to connect 90% of Australian homes and workplaces to an optical fibre network.

In other parts of Australia, next generation wireless and satellite technologies will ensure all Australians will get access to broadband speeds that will support new, two-way, interactive video services and applications.

Connecting fibre optic cables directly to people’s homes will allow speeds of 100Mbps and beyond. This is 100 times faster than speeds many Australians currently use.
